Ascella Technologies has an opportunity for an experienced and motivated Senior Documentation Specialist/Senior Technical Writer to support a team implementing an ERP system for our client. The role includes writing, editing, and organizing technical documentation, assisting with user training, and contributing to internal documents as needed for successful client delivery. This position requires a strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills who can synthesize complex information into clear and concise language. 

What you will be doing

  • Writing and editing technical and procedural documentation such as user guides, manuals, and training materials
  • Developing comprehensive documentation to synthesize technical information meeting project standards
  • Collaborating with SMEs and managers to synthesize technical information into a compelling message and ensuring accuracy of process documentation
  • Developing and maintaining an extensive repository of reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications, and ensuring that it is up-to-date
  • Correctly cataloging the documents for ease of retrieval
  • Developing materials for and conducting user training
  • Creating test plans and documenting use cases/user stories
  • Translating technical material into easily-understandable, user-friendly text
  • Proofreading and editing content for clarity, grammar, syntax, and consistency

What you need to be considered for this role (required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a technical writer or documentation specialist
  • Experience working on systems implementation/delivery projects
  • The ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable to others via text and diagrams
  • Familiarity with the SDLC and software development process including maintaining a Requirements Traceability Matrix
  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent copywriting, proofreading, and editing skills
  • The ability to work quickly, accurately, and collaboratively to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strategic and creative mindset
  • Enthusiastic and proactive attitude with and strong drive to take initiative
  • US citizenship 

What makes you stand out from the crowd (desired)

  • Experience supporting the Federal Government
  • Knowledge of Momentum Financials and or D365 Finance architecture modules, and components, specifically Accounts Receivables
  • Understanding of financial processes and accounting principles
  • Experience with project management
  • Integrated design skills to create elevated documentation and presentation materials

Position: Senior Documentation Specialist/Senior Technical Writer
Location: Washington, DC (Fully Remote)
Base Compensation: We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, and we are open to discussing compensation based on your qualifications and experience
Other Compensation: 4% contribution to 401(k), performance bonus, profit-sharing
