We are currently seeking a Senior Business Analyst to work on a large business application suite of applications for a federal agency. The role is a hands-on position working in an agile environment. The project is in O&M, which will support a large data warehouse, BI applications, and misc. data requests. The management of the suite of applications is critical to the daily execution of the agency’s mission. The Senior Business Analyst plays an essential role in several work streams as they will interface with many IT systems.

The Senior Business Analyst position will require analytical, management, and technical skills (see below) to be successful. Also, experience as a federal contractor is critical. The position requires a solid understanding of the agency-contractor relationship as this position involves interaction with numerous federal managers and other contracting companies. This position will also require interfacing with technical resources for multiple priority workstreams. Thus, the Senior Business Analyst needs strong communication skills.  

What you will be doing

  • Understanding all key system components and applications (web applications, Power BI dashboards, and Oracle databases)
  • Working with developers and federal clients to understand business needs
  • Designing and maintaining Microsoft Power BI dashboards
  • Production release support
  • Working as a member of an agile team and participating in team rituals (stand-ups, retrospectives, status meetings, etc.)
  • Maintaining contract SDLC documents; includes technical writing
  • Ensuring adherence to quality standards and reviewing project deliverables
  • Adding, updating, and completing Jira tickets to document your work activities
  • Performing team quality assurance (QA) activities on our data and dashboards
  • General team/user support

 What you need to be considered for this role (required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years of business analysis experience
  • Experience developing and implementing Microsoft Power BI based dashboards and reports
  • Agile project execution experience
  • Database SQL querying experience
  • Quality/testing experience
  • Working at a federal agency (prior contracting experience)
  • Willing to assist in other technical endeavors when workloads are low
  • Experience with MS Office Suite products
  • Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills; ability to adapt and manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced challenging environment
  • Expert communication skills; ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats with stakeholders at all organizational levels (this skill is of utmost importance to be considered for this position)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality accurate work products
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision under a system of discipline and accountability
  • Ability and willingness to learn other processes and technologies. If you are open to learning, you are a good fit.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity while dealing directly with internal and external customers
  • U.S. citizenship or a Green card Holder (and be willing to undergo a Public Trust background investigation)

What makes you stand out from the crowd (desired)

  • Master’s Degree or higher
  • Technical experience in data analytics
  • Oracle database experience (SQL and querying)
  • SDLC experience of any type
  • Experience with testing web and reporting applications (i.e., creating and executing testing; preferably test automation experience)
